On the 22nd of September, four of our pupils: Sherley Niquice-Grade 3, Vikelwe Mavimbela-Grade 3, Mercy Chikwanha-Grade 4, Mphumelelo Gama-Grade 5 participated in the Regional (preliminary stage) First Swaziland Annual Spelling Bee Competition held at St Marks Primary School. They all performed very well and Mphumelelo was fortunate enough to make it into the top ten students from the Hhohho region to compete at the Nationals that were held at Khanyisile Primary School on the 7th of October.
We were very proud of all of them. Once again WELL DONE, LITTLE SCHOOL!!

Examinations

Our Swaziland Primary Certificate (SPC) exams are under way, having started on the 28th October with the French Orals and ending on the 17th of November.

The exams for our Grade 1s to Grade 6s will begin on the 14th of November and end on the 25th of November.

We wish all our pupils the best of luck in their exams.

Christmas Boxes

On the 4th of November 2016 Mrs Farrell, Mrs Morais and a few other members of staff  went to Phakamani Primary School to deliver Christmas Boxes. The gifts, so generously donated by our parents, were very excitedly received by the children.

Exams! and School closing date.

Grade 7 (Swaziland Primary Certificate)

The exams start tomorrow (29th October) with the French Orals and finish on the 12th November.

Grades 1 to 6: Their exams start on Monday, the 16th November and finish on Friday, 27th November.

Pupils should come to school after the exams, because they will be introduced to their new teachers and will be working together during this last week of school.

School will finish on Friday, 4th December, after a closing assembly. All children should attend.

After school care!

After school care:

After school the children wait for their parents, or their lifts, on the platforms.

The little ones – Grades 0, 1 and 2 – are escorted to the platforms by their teachers, who wait with them until the helper, Happy, arrives. The children stay on the platforms until their lift arrives. This way, children are not running around amongst the cars.

Some parents collect their children very late – as late, sometimes, as well after 4. This means that these children have been hanging around for over two hours or more. Happy is very good and waits with them until their parents arrive, but this is unfair on her, who also needs to get home. Please Parents, don’t take advantage in this way!

I appeal again to parents who allow their children to leave the school grounds and wait on the road for public transport. This is so dangerous. The children forget that they are on a main road and I often find them playing on the road.

Also, they are there, in a position to be accosted by passers by, who could be drug peddlers, paedophiles or child stealers. One shudders to think of the dangers they are being exposed to.

Congratulations to our Grade 7s

Last year, our school did better than ever: out of the 28 children who wrote the Swaziland Primary Certificate exam, we achieved 15 merits, 12 first class passes and one second class pass.

Well done, Grade 7!

Today we split the Grade 6 and the Grade 5 classes into double streams and they moved into their new classrooms.

And we have started our own Grade 0 class. The teacher is Margaret Daglish. The class is being run according to the Montessori system and the 20 little ones are really enjoying the new approach.

This year we have added a sports/physical education teacher to our staff: Teacher Dale Mark.

We also have Sensei Wandile teaching Karate and Stephanie Pfeiffer teaching ballet

at the school in the afternoons.

December News

Last week The Little School staff took Christmas boxes to a rural school in Hloloshini.
The pupils from The Little School had brought gifts to the school for children of the same age. Each “shoe box” contained: something to play with, something to eat, something to wear, something to read and something sweet.
The boxes were gift wrapped and labelled with a Christmas greeting for a boy or girl of the same age. We had enough boxes for every child at the school. There are 42 orphans at that school, cared for by the community and the headmistress, Mrs. Mkhwanazi.
So, a big thank you to the children of The Little School for making so many children happy.
