News for the end of the term,
The End of School Concert and Prize Giving.
This will be held on Friday, the 28th November, at 10 a.m.
Everyone is welcome. Please do come.
Parents may collect their child’s school report after the concert.
And this will be the last day of the school year.

News from The Little School.
We have a school hall floor! Thank you so much, everyone who helped the children collect money for the floor. We collected just over E20,000.00!
Now that we have a roof and a floor there are so many ways in which we can use our hall:
On Saturday we hosted a self-defence class for ladies;
On Friday, Wandile, the karate teacher, organised an interschool competition in our hall, which was very successful and enjoyable and on the 28th November, we will hold our end of year concert in the hall; at 10 a.m. if you would like to come!
There were prizes for the children who collected the most money for the hall floor.
The eleven children, who collected the most money in their class, went to play put- put with Mrs Farrell, last Friday afternoon.
They are: Melokuhle Mamba, Lihle Shabangu, Gcama Manyatsi, Kelsey May Waters, Jeffrey Gachuma, Nontsikelelo Shongwe, Emuhle Masinga, Sisimile Mcisilela, Natosha Shongwe, Sinesipho Malakati and Nonhlanhla Dlamini.
The little girl who collected the most in the whole school, Lihle Shabangu, received an MP3 player.
Today we got the news that Mandiso Dlamini, in Grade 7, came top in the whole country, in the National Mathematics Competition. Congratulations Mandiso. We are very proud of you.
On Monday the Grade 7s began their final exams. Good luck, Grade 7!
They will have their Grade 7 party on Friday, the 14th November, hosted by the Grade 6s.
We are planning to have a Grade 0 class at the primary school from next term.
We will house the little ones in the existing staff room.
This is a lovely, airy, big room with its own toilets, for boys and girls, and a kitchen,
which will give us such scope. The children will be able to paint and cook and have a really
fun time during their first year at “Big School”.
Frances, who created the playroom at Never Never Land at Corner Plaza, will plan the layout
and do all the decorating.
The Teachers have kindly agreed to move into one of the new classrooms when they are completed.
The concrete slab for the new classrooms has been cast and hopefully the classrooms will be
completed by the beginning of next year.
News for the third term, 2014
We have been very busy at this Little School this holiday. We have erected the shell of a school hall, and work has begun on the remaining four classrooms.
With the rainy weather about to begin, the school hall will be a very important asset for the school. It can be used almost immediately for assemblies and indoor sports, but we need to get the floor concreted.
Donations from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Donations can be in the shape of bags of cement, loads of sand or stone, and cash, of course. All donations will be used absolutely for the hall.
As soon as the floor is concreted we can start on a stage and dressing rooms for the drama group. Do you remember the wonderful show we put on last year: “Joseph and his Dream Coat”?
We have grassed a second playing field. The grass on the football field is coming on, but now we need the rain. Our next project is to concrete a netball field in front of the Grade 7 block.
The four new classrooms will enable us to have a double stream throughout the school, which will mean smaller classes per teacher – essential for good academic standards.
On the academic side, we were asked to send three pupils to take part in the National Maths Competition. Two children made it to the finals.
Congratulations to Mandiso Dlamini and Siyanda Shongwe, both in Grade 7.
On Friday the two senior classes held a cake sale. They sold hot dogs at break and cakes and sweets after school.
Thank you, Grade 7 and 6 for your wonderful generosity. You brought so much…enough to feed the whole school. Thank you, Frances, for setting up the stall so beautifully and thank you to all the teachers who did all the selling, and to the aunties for cleaning up afterwards. Thank you, thank you!!
And, thank you, the rest of the school, for spending so generously. Thank you, parents, for giving your children so much pocket money.
The cake sale realised E4310.00. This will go a long way to finishing the grass on the football field and the netball field and will bring us a little closer to having a marimba band.
Well, dear Parents,
So much for our effort to form a Parents’ Association!
We personally invited the 20 or so parents who expressed willingness to join and called a meeting last Thursday evening.
One parent attended – Mr Hwaire. Thank you very much for coming, Mr Hwaire.
Mr Hwaire came all the way from Matsapha and stayed until 7 p.m. Teacher Simolline and I really enjoyed chatting with you. (Tanaka Whaire is one of last year’s merit pupils and is now doing very well at Waterford.)

Dear Parents and Teachers and Pupils
It looks as though this heavy rain is going to continue, so there will be no school tomorrow.
I am really sorry about that, but we will make up the time lost during the holidays.

At the moment we are madly planting grass on our recently levelled football field. Every couple of days I go down to Vickerie’s to buy 3000 plugs of grass. We can only manage 3000 every two days.
We are going to get our PTA set up very soon.
We are going to have parents’ evenings for the parents to chat with their children’s teachers. We will stagger the evenings so that we don’t have problems with parking.
We are also planning morning tours of the school, where we will invite the principals of the various pre-schools and the parents of children who will be going to grade 1 next year.
Our half term break will be next week. The school will close at the normal time on Thursday, the 27th February and we will be closed on Friday, Monday and Tuesday. We will come back to school on Wednesday, 5th March.
School will close for the end of the term on Thursday,17th April and re-open for the second term on Tuesday, 13th May.
